Catherine Murray
Catherine has a background in resource
planning and rural economics, with extensive experience in policy
analysis. She has a PhD in institutional economics. She worked for
three years in local government in New Zealand, during which time she
focused on urban change and city region economies.
Prior to this she worked in various universities in the European Union,
gaining research
project management experience, with a focus on economic integration in
Central and Eastern Europe. Her research interests at that time
concentrated on the effects of rural institutional integration and
governance, while exploring spatial equity and non-market based
economic instruments. This augmented her awareness of social capital
and the cultural contexts within which economic transactions occur.
Catherine is keenly interested in New Zealand’s contemporary discourse
of economic integration, and how it manifests in all levels in society
and government.
